🌺Notice beauty
I met my now-husband in the summer of 2005 when we were 20 years old.
We were volunteering with a summer program in New York City.
He was a computer engineering major at Cornell, but what struck me about him was his interest in photography.
One Saturday, we were wandering around the city with a few other friends. He brought his camera and was taking photos as we went.
I asked, “What is it that you like about taking photos?”
He thought for a moment and then said, “When you take photos, you start seeing beauty everywhere.”
That moment I thought, WOW, we are alike.
He gets me.
We are on the same wavelength.
Literally at that moment, the third friend with us said, “Let me take your picture. Smile!”
I remember thinking as this picture was taken, If we end up dating, this will be the first picture ever taken of us.
(SOMEWHERE THIS PHOTO EXISTS, BUT I COULDN’T FIND IT. ALAS!)
This week inside the Summer of Writing, the creativity injection is to take one picture a day of something beautiful.
It can be a flower or a bird you see on a walk.
A ray of morning light when you wake up.
Your partner, mom, or kid.
Your face.
You with a friend.
A rainbow, a chalkboard sign outside a store, something unexpected during your commute.
One photo a day, for seven days.
Notice beauty.
