What does it take to write brave?

This is a question I ask myself regularly.

Whether I’m digging deeper in a scene for my current novel…

Writing and mailing a protest letter…

Or sending an email that makes me want to puke, writing brave is something I strive to do every. single. day.

Sometimes that means saying what I REALLY want to say. Even if it’ll ruffle feathers.

Sometimes that means going deeper into an emotion that’s uncomfortable to feel.

I also spend a LOT of time asking myself, How can I help my community write brave?

And this year’s
